Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet (Online Diet Program).
In the late summer of 2004 an internet-based diet program seemed to appear out of nowhere. Advertised incessantly via Google contextual ads (like the one to the left), the program was initially called Weight Loss 4 Idiots, but a year later changed to Fat Loss 4 Idiots.
The diet was developed by internet entrepreneur Gilbert Rafael Fuentes of Orange County, California. From the late 1990s, sometimes under the name Kutting Edge Graphix, Mr. Fuentes was plugging away making Flash-based websites for himself as well as for others. An interest in weight loss led him to develop a series of weight loss websites, and as early as 1998 the essential formula that became Fat Loss 4 Idiots had started to gel, although it would take years of tweaking, name changes, and internet promotion until he eventually hit it big. Among the names that were auditioned were Mega Fat Loss, Fat Burning Secrets, and Fat Burning Bible. Early domain names used included FatLoss.com, BeyondLowCarbs.com, and Dieting4Morons.com.
Operating as a sole proprietorship, Mr. Fuentes formally registered Fat Loss 4 Idiots as his personal DBA (or fictitious business name) in 2007 during the height of the diet’s success.
Update: On December 21, 2016, the Fat Loss 4 Idiots website was shut down with a message announcing the closing. Previous purchasers of the diet could for a short, unspecified period redownload the diet instructions. The meal plan calculators were taken offline. Please see below for a discussion of how you can simulate this diet on your own. And in light of the unavailability of the diet, CalorieLab is planning to expand the description of the original diet below to make it easier to reproduce, based on materials that we gathered when this post was originally written.
The Fat Loss 4 Idiots food lists are summarized below. Protein list: Deli meat sandwich (the only place bread makes an appearance in the diet, and thus considered somewhat of a jackpot menu item if the diet generator chooses it for a meal) Various cold cut sliced meats. Eating four meals a day for your diet plan can help you lose weight without feeling hungry. Department of Health and Human Services encourages overweight women to consume between 1,000 and 1,600 calories per day for weight loss and overweight men to consume between 1,200 calories and 1,600 calories per day to help lose excess body weight.

There are three different diets available to members of this program, which costs $56 dollars for a 3-month membership, $39 if the “Beyond Calories” e-book is not purchased. Following are some notes on the diets offered.

So you don’t actually get a lot of stuff. If you’re tired of diet books that are really magazine articles puffed out with time-wasting filler to fill a book, you may not think this is such a bad thing. If you expected more for your $56, you may feel ripped off.
Joining Fat Loss 4 Idiots
Like the well-known eDiets diet program, Fat Loss 4 Idiots exists only as an online service. Unlike eDiets and most other online diet programs, you get no online support from the website and no access to user support forums. The only support offered is assistance with log-in difficulties. The diagram below shows the areas available to members on the website, which is located not at FatLoss4Idiots.com, which is merely the sales page, but at DietAccess.com.
The Diet Generator and Fat Loss 4 Idiots Menus
The Diet Generator has you choose 7 to 15 foods each from two food lists of 23 foods each. One list is primarily protein, while the second list is primarily fruits and vegetables. Preparation recipes are given for foods that require them, but most are simply eaten plain. The Fat Loss 4 Idiots food lists are summarized below.

Having chosen your foods, an eleven-day set of menus is generated, with three days at the end as cheat days where you can eat anything, making a two-week cycle. Marigor und die tobisho 2016. You can generate another cycle to repeat the diet.
The daily menus consist of four meals, which require minimal preparation and cooking, each meal consisting of two or sometimes three of your food choices. The general pattern is:
- Day 1: A relatively larger selection of foods to eat
- Day 2: An all fruit day (although a sandwich sometimes appears as one meal)
- Days 3 to 7: Most days are protein heavy in menu item selection
- Day 8: An all vegetables day
- Days 9 through 11: More of an equal amount of protein and vegetable/carbohydrate menu items
- Days 12 through 14: You may eat whatever you wish, as long as you only eat until you feel satisfied and not until you feel full
There are general rules to follow:
- The meals may be eaten in any order, and should be separated by at least 2-1/2 hours.
- Allowed beverages are: Diet sodas, coffee, tea, water, and other beverages with fewer than 10 calories per glass. You must drink 10 glasses of water during the day. You may optionally drink one glass of wine per day.
- No-calorie condiments are allowed on foods.
- Portions are not specified, but you must only eat until you feel satisfied and not until you feel full.
There is also a vegetarian version of the diet available.
Diet Handbook diet
The diet in the Diet Handbook does not use an online menu generator, but is somewhat similar. There are two lists of foods, protein foods and carb foods, and there is a 10-day, 4-meal per day schedule, as well as a set of rules.
Beyond Calories
The Beyond Calories e-book diet has four lists of foods, (1) fruit, (2) protein, (3) vegetables, and (4) a mixture of food types. There is a ten-day schedule telling you which combinations of foods from the list to eat, and you eat six meals per day. There is a set of rules to follow.
Free Fat Loss 4 Idiots: Could you do these diets without joining the program?
There is no reason why you couldn’t do a sort of free Fat Loss 4 Idiots on your own, without joining the program. For the first diet, at least, our description above is sufficient to do it. There is no support available to members beyond account and log-in assistance, not even a members forum for discussion.
The underlying principles of the diet are the same as many other diets:
- You eat within a set of rules which end up forcing you to be more self-aware of what you eat
- The times you are allowed to eat are limited, eliminating grazing and thoughtless eating
- The type of foods you are allowed to eat are limited, making binging less appealing
Fat Loss For Idiots Menu
We have generated many menus from the Fat Loss 4 Idiots menu generator, and there seems to be a rather simple pattern:
- 8 to 11 menu items per day
- Day 1 is a relatively larger selection (10 or 11 items)
- Day 2 is just fresh fruit (including fruit not on the list)
- The remainder of the first week has 8 or 9 items per day, with two days having roughly a 7 or 8 protein to 1 or 2 carbs ratio for three days, and a 4 protein to 5 carbs ratio for the other two days
- Day 8 is all fresh vegetables
- The last three days have roughly 4 to 6 protein items and 2 to 4 carb items
We didn’t notice any particular patterns beyond that, and you could just randomly choose foods from a list you compile yourself. The diet generator makes sure that you don’t eat your very, very favorite items every meal, so you should keep that in mind if you generate your own meal.
Does Fat Loss 4 Idiots Work?
Does the diet work, and if so, how?
The first thing to remember about any diet is that when an overweight person resolves to begin it, he has gone through the process of making the decision to lose weight and has sought out a program. To a great extent, it doesn’t really matter what the program is. In starting it the dieter has adopted a new mental attitude and has begun to be more consciously aware of his eating habits. So in this respect, Fat Loss 4 Idiots is a winner, just as any reasonably healthy weight-loss diet is a winner.
The second aspect of any diet is the “theory” that the diet promoter creates to explain the diet’s efficacy. Of course, at the end of the day there is only one theory, that eating less food makes you lose weight. But most diet promoters add a bit of magic fairy dust to their patter. This is usually bogus, but it helps with motivation, because you believe that some magical effect of the diet will make it easier for you, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The theory on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots website, “calorie shifting,” is sparse and disjointed, so the diet is not strong here.
The third aspect of a successful diet is support and community. The Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet is a total loser here, although there are third-party forums where support can be obtained.

Finally, most effective diets limit what you can eat and when. This is the crux of the matter, because cutting back on food is ultimately what makes you lose weight. Fat Loss 4 Idiots is no exception and it has complete menus and eating limits for every day that you are on the diet, with meals restricted to certain times. And the “menus” consist of right-out-of-the-refrigerator (or cupboard) prepared food or food that requires minimal cooking skills. If you can stand (or even like) such food, the convenience factor is a great advantage of this diet.
So in the end, the diet may be great for some, and no diet is perfect for everyone. But it’s reasonably cheap, so there is nothing to lose if you’re in the market for a different approach. But remember that after you stop the diet, you will not have learned good eating habits, and there is a danger of rebounding.
